Malam.B is a Trojan that opens the port 9687 and makes the affected computer act as a proxy server.
The proxy server acts as an intermediary between the attacker's computer and the final site to which the attacker connects in order to carry out several actions.
These are usually malicious actions, such as sending massive spam, accessing a computer remotely in order to get confidential information, launching denial of service (DoS) attacks, etc.
By doing so, it seems as if the computer affected by Malam.B were the one connecting to the site, so the attacker's identity is never revealed.
Malam.B usually reaches the computer using a spammed e-mail message that contains a link to a web address that hosts a script. When the user clicks the link, this script downloads Malam.B to the computer.
Malam.B is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.
