Redisto is a worm that, after infecting a computer, ends active processes in the affected computer. By doing this, some antivirus and firewall applications, among others, installed on the affected computer will stop working.
It also saves confidential information belonging to the user of the affected computer in two files, which it then sends out via e-mail.
Redisto spreads rapidly via e-mail and KaZaA, a P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing program.
A clear indication that Redisto has infected a computer is the following false error message, which it displays on screen when it is run:
