Worm Generic is not an specific worm, but a generic detection for future variants of the Worm family. This group of worms has the following common characteristics:
- Their main aim is to affect and spread to other computers.
The computer will be affected when the file carrying the worm is run. This file has a variable name and carries out the affection in different ways, without user realizing and they are sometimes included inside other viruses and worms.
They do not spread automatically using their own means. They need the attacking user's intervention in order to reach the affected computer. The means of transmission used include, among others, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, e-mail messages with attached files, Internet downloads, FTP, IRC channels, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks, etc.
Worm Generic is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.
