Hllo.Mip is a dangerous worm, as it deletes the contents of the hard drive and the floppy disks inserted in the floppy drive. Hllo.Mip also modifies files that are vital for the correct functioning of Windows.
Hllo.Mip does not spread automatically using its own means. It needs an attacking user's intervention in order to reach the affected computer. The means of transmission used include, among others, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, e-mail messages with attached files, Internet downloads, FTP, IRC channels, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks, etc.
A clear indication that Hllo.Mip has affected a computer is the following message, which is displayed when it activates for the first time:
Whenever the user tries to run the REGEDIT.EXE file, Hllo.Mip displays the following warning message:
Hllo.Mip counts the number of times it activates. When this number reaches a certain value, Hllo.Mip displays the following warning message:
When the user pushes the OK button, Hllo.Mip opens Notepad, and writes the text Curiosidad5, Uruguay, 2001 and CurisidadN@yahoo.com, as in the following image:
