Jini.A is a macro virus that reaches computers in an infected Excel 97 spreadsheet (a file with a XLS extension). This file will then infect all the Excel spreadsheets used.
This is a dangerous virus, as it:
- Deletes the contents or every spreadsheet that is edited or created.
- Displays two warnings on screen, thirty days after infection took place.
Thirty days after infection, the virus generates a random number. If the number is 0, the following message is displayed on screen:
However, if the number is other than 0, the virus displays a message whose title and contents are made up of data taken from an infected spreadsheet. This data will vary depending on the infected spreadsheet.
