Ethan.A is a macro virus that reaches computers in an infected Word document, with a DOC extension. This document then infects the Word's global template (NORMAL.DOT file) and spreads its infection to all the Word documents generated with it.
Ethan.A does not cause any damage in the infected computer, as its only aim is to spread and modify some properties of the Word documents it infects.
Ethan.A is difficult to recognize,a s it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer
However, a clear indication that Ethan.A has infected those documents containing macros, is that the warning messages that allow Word documents to be opened without enabling their macros, are disabled.
