Destructor.A is a worm that ends many processes belonging to security related programs, such as antivirus or firewalls. This would leave the computer vulnerable against possible threats, as the computer protection would be considerably reduced.
Additionally, it changes the Desktop wallpaper and disables applications, such as the Task Manager, which would prevent the user from viewing the processes that are being run, and the Windows Registry Editor.
Destructor.A spreads using the following means:
- the instant messaging program MSN Messenger.
- P2P programs.
- mapped and removable drives.
Destructor.A is easy to recognize, as when it is run, the CD-DVD ROM tray is opened and it changes the Desktop wallpaper to the following image:
