Yama.B is a worm whose main aim is to open the web browser at the following web page: http:// www.geocities.com/ yamaperu
This worm spreads via e-mail by inserting its code in the AutoSignature of outgoing messages.
It is very easy to become infected by this worm, as it is automatically activated when the message is viewed through the Outlook Preview Pane. It does this by exploiting a vulnerability in Internet Explorer (versions 5.01 and 5.5), which allow script to be automatically run.
An indication that Yama.B has infected the computer is that the home page of the web browser (for example, Internet Explorer) is changed to:
http:// www.geocities.com/ yamaperu
Once it has carried out its infection, Yama.B displays a text in Spanish about the 2001 elections in Peru, in the web browser.
