Brief Description

Downloader.BOG is a Trojan that downloads malware to the affected computer from the web page http://vxiframe.verts/progs, especially spyware and other Trojans belonging to the family Downloader. These also download other spyware and adware programs, such as Adware/MyWebSearch, Adware/WinTools, Adware/Trustbid, Adware/StartPage, Spyware/BargainBuddy, Adware/Ucmore, Adware/CWS.Aboutblank, Spyware/Dyfuca, etc.

This Trojan also prevents affected users from accessing several web pages, and disables the Task Manager.

Downloader.BOG does not spread automatically using its own means. It needs an attacking user's intervention in order to reach the affected computer. The means of transmission used include, among others, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, e-mail messages with attached files, Internet downloads, FTP, IRC channels, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks, etc.

Visible Symptoms

Downloader.BOG is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.
