Brief Description 

    

Maldal.F is a worm that reaches computers in a file called CHRISTMAS.EXE attached to an e-mail message with the subject Happy New Year.

It is very easy to become infected with this worm, as it tries to pass itself off as a harmless Christmas greeting.

Maldal.F is a dangerous worm as it causes the following effects: it displays a Flash animation on the screen, changes Internet Explorer’s home page, modifies the name of the affected computer and locks the keyboard.

A clear indication that you have received Maldal.F is a message with the following characteristics:

  • Attachment:
    CHRISTMAS.EXE
When the CHRISTMAS.EXE file is run, Maldal.F displays a Christmas greeting card on the screen. Then, the worm locks the keyboard.
