MS06-064 is not categorized as virus, worm, Trojan or backdoor. It is a group of low vulnerabilities in the TCP/IP protocol v.6 on Windows 2003/XP computers, which allows DoS (Denial of Service) attacks to be launched against the vulnerable computer.
If exploited successfully, MS06-064 allows hackers to cause the computer to stop responding and to end an existing TCP connection.
This vulnerability is usually exploited by creating a specially crafted message and sending it to a vulnerable computer.
Attacks can be launched across the Internet, but a firewall could be used in order to prevent those attacks.
If you have a Windows 2003/XP computer, it is recommended to download and apply the security patch for these vulnerabilities. Click here to access the web page for downloading the patch.
