Brief Description

Divi.G is a macro virus that infects Excel 97 spreadsheets (files with a XLS extension).

It is easy to become infected by Divi.G, as it can reach computers in an infected Excel spreadsheet through different means.

This is not a dangerous virus, as its only effects are the following:

  • It modifies the properties of the spreadsheets it infects.
  • It disables the screen refresh, so that its effects are not visible (at least, while it is carrying out the action).

Visible Symptoms

It is difficult to know if a computer has been infected by Divi.G. In fact, the only visible action carried out by this virus consists of modifying the properties of the infected spreadsheets, by adding the text IVID followed by a number in hexadecimal format.

These properties of Excel spreadsheets can be viewed by selecting the Properties option in the Excel File menu.
