Brief Description

Budd is not a virus; it is a hoax or an e-mail message designed to trick recipients into thinking that there is a virus called BUDDYLST.ZIP disguised as a screensaver from the drinks company Budweiser.

Budd tries to gain the user’s trust by citing Microsoft as the original source of the information and claiming that it has been confirmed by America Online, Demon and BT Internet.

Its aim is to cause alarm and get users to forward the message.

In order to avoid problems, disregard this information, as it is totally false, and do not forward it to anyone.

  • By its subject, which is often: VIRUS ALERT.
  • By its message, which always refers to a virus that will be sent in a screensaver BUDDYLST.ZIP attached to an e-mail message.
