Effects 

BitTera.C is a virus constructor type malware. To be more precise, BitTera.C allows to create any type of malware with different functions.

This application allows to configure the malware to be created. The following functions can be selected, among others:

  • To disable the Task manager, the Windows Registry Editor, the Windows firewall, the option System restore, the automatic updates, etc.
  • To hide the icons of the Desktop, the Windows clock, the Start button, the Windows taskbar, etc.
  • To prevent users from running the calculator, the Notepad and the Yahoo messenger, among others.
  • To close Internet Explorer every 10 seconds.
  • To display fake error messages.

Means of transmission 

BitTera.C does not spread automatically using its own means. It needs an attacking user's intervention in order to reach the affected computer. The means of transmission used include, among others, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, email messages with attached files, Internet downloads, FTP, IRC channels, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks, etc.
