Permissions required to enable the Panda protection in macOS

Information applies to:

Products
Panda Adaptive Defense 360 on Aether PlatformPanda Dome
Panda Endpoint Protection on Aether PlatformPanda Endpoint Protection Plus on Aether Platform

This article explains how to assign permissions in order to enable the protection in macOS. Specifically, you must enable Kernel or System Extensions (KEXT/SEXT) regardless of the macOS version you have installed and in the case of macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur, additionally, you must also enable Full Disk Access (FDA). We have used Adaptive Defense 360 to illustrate the procedure.

Attention!
Enabling Kernel or System Extensions (KEXT or SEXT) and Full Disk Access (FDA) is critical for the correct functioning of the protection on macOS. Follow the instructions below according to your macOS version.
How to enable Kernel or System Extensions
  1. Open Adaptive Defense 360 and click the bell icon.

  2. Select the Open System preferences... button.

  3. Click the lock icon.

  4. Enter the administrator user credentials and click Unlock.

  5. Click the Allow button.

Now, Panda Adaptive Defense 360 will have the necessary permissions.

How to enable Full Disk Access

  1. Open Adaptive Defense 360 and click the bell icon:

  2. Click the Open hard disk access preferences button.

  3. Click the lock icon.

  4. Enter the administrator password and click the Unlock button.

  5. Check the com.protection...ystemextension

  6. Click the button Quit & Reopen

  7. The protection is now working.
