How to assign permissions to Panda Security solutions for their correct operation in macOS Catalina?

Information applies to:

Products
Panda Adaptive Defense 360 on Aether PlatformPanda Dome
Panda Endpoint Protection on Aether PlatformPanda Endpoint Protection Plus on Aether Platform

This article explains how to assign permisions to Panda Security in macOS Catalina to scan and protect you from files accessed, downloaded and executed in user folders. In this article we use Panda Dome as an example, but the process is identical in Adaptive Defense products.

The set of instructions are different depending on the version of the product installed at the endpoint. We strongly recommend you to upgrade Panda Dome from your Panda Account or in the case of Adaptive Defense products, to do so via Technical Support. To know the product version you have installed, check article How can I find out the version of my Aether-based product?

+ Panda Dome protection version 2.00.08.0000 or later and corporate solutions protection version 2.00.05.0000 or later - Panda Dome protection version 2.00.08.0000 or later and corporate solutions protection version 2.00.05.0000 or later
  1. Open Panda Dome and click the bell icon.

  2. Select the Open hard disk access preferences... button.

  3. Click the lock icon.

  4. Enter the administrator user credentials and click Unlock.

  5. Click Quit Now to apply the changes.

  6. Now, Panda Dome will have the necessary permisions to work.

NOTE: if you come from an older installation of Panda Dome in macOS Catalina, please enable full disk access by following the steps below.

  1. Open Preferences from the main panel:

  2. Select Security & Privacy.

  3. Select the Privacy tab.

  4. Select Full Disk Access from the left menu.

  5. Click the lock icon.

  6. Enter your login username and password

  7. Uncheck sh application.

+ Panda Dome protection version prior to 2.00.08.0000 and corporate solutions protection version prior to 2.00.05.0000 - Panda Dome protection version prior to 2.00.08.0000 and corporate solutions protection version prior to 2.00.05.0000
  • Open Preferences from the main panel:

  • Select Security & Privacy.

  • Select the Privacy tab.

  • Select Full Disk Access from the left menu.

  • Click the lock icon.

  • Enter your login username and password.

  • Select your Catalina system partition from the top menu.

  • Now, you need to find /bin/sh. If you can't find the /bin folder, it is probably because it is hidden. Push the cmd + Shift + . keys to make it visible.

  • Now select the bin folder.

  • Now, click sh and press the Open button.

  • Access is now granted for the Panda producs based on Aether to be able to scan.
