What can I do to prevent the system extension from being blocked on macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)?

Symptoms

When you install or start Panda on macOS High Sierra, macOS might block the kernel extensions necessary for Panda to function and you might get the following notifications:

  • System Extension Blocked notification displayed on installing the product on macOS.

  • Notification displayed on opening the product, prompting you to allow the system software to load before using your Panda Antivirus.

The reason for this is that macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) contains a security feature which requires a user approval before loading new third-party kernel extensions. Refer to this TechNote for more details.

To resolve it, you need to manually approve the Panda kernel extension. To find out how, please check out the instructions below:

Solution

  1. Access the Security Preferences option from the Open Security & Privacy System Preferences message displayed when opening the product or else by accessing System Preferences:

  2. Click the lock icon in the bottom left to allow changes.

  3. Click Allow.

Note: The system will display the unblock system extension message within 30 minutes after the system's attempt to load it. If it is not unblocked within that time, it will be necessary to reload the extension to see the message again. The easiest way to do this is to restart the computer.
