Welcome to the Virus Encyclopedia of Panda Security.
Opaserv.J is a worm that doesn't have any destructive effects, whose main aim is to spread to other computers, especially if they are connected to a network. It does this by exploiting a vulnerability in Windows Me/98/95.
Opaserv.J spreads across shared network drives, infecting computers that are connected to other computers that are infected with this virus.
Once it has carried out its infection, Opaserve.J tries to connect to the web page www.opasoft.com in order to download updates for it components and therefore, change some of its characteristics.
Opaserv.J is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate that it has infected a computer.
