Scams using the name of Neil Trotter continue to be reported by users. Whereas a few weeks ago we reported that cyber-criminals were using a story from the BBC website to make the scam seem more realistic, now they have turned to The Huffington Post to continue the fraud.
Several readers have sent us various emails they have received from the address neil1trotter@hotmail.com asking them for personal information such as their full name, phone number, age, occupation, etc. in exchange for £450,000. However, there are more models of emails in which Neil Trotter supposedly contacts you in order to give you great chunks of his fortune.
In this case, the cyber-criminals are using the fame surrounding this person, the recent winner of £108 million, to get victims to hand over personal details. They also try to give the scam more credibility by referring to well-known media sources.
As ever, common sense is the best means of knowing that no one is going to contact you to give you something for nothing, and also that you should never forward your personal data to someone you don’t know.

I have recently recieved a txt frm supposedly neil trotter ,to contact him threw neiltrotter@gmail.com to say im a reciepent of one and half million pound ,and also to send bank details etc ,so i thout id google him ,they even say god bless you lol x
He recibido un correo de esta gente, primero en ingles, les pedi que me lo tradujeran al español, y asi pude leerlo. En el me piden una serie de datos mios, para hacerme una transferencia de 1,5 millones de libras. Les he respondido, que de que va esto, que quien se dirige a mi, y por que, y estoy esperando respuesta.
Acabo de encontrar esta pagina, y al leerlo, dejo también mi comentario, al respecto.
He recibido un correo del supuesto Neil Trotter que me regala un millón de libras y debo enviarle mis datos. Suelo recibir muchos correos de este tipo, la mayoría de familiares de políticos que quieren dar dinero, enfermos o banqueros a los que se les ha muerto algún cliente, supongo todo timos. Un saludo. I also received a similar email but what is weird the name neil trotter is the name of a guy I used to work with,nice fella we ended up being good friends I did reply to it then I received another email giving a load of spill and in it was asking for personal details obviously I didn’t send any info that’s why im on this website
i also received mail to contact Barrester Raj Mukesh from india. he is scrammer.his tel no.+91 8587837576.given e mail address.rejdvocacy@consultant.com asking money. ifany body can give me orginal Mr Neil Trotter pl. send.
