Panda GateDefender Performa allows you to configure warnings that will be sent to inform the administrator when certain events occur. The warnings can be sent through the following means:
Steps for configuring the SNMP agent warnings
- Go to the web administration console.
- Click on Warnings in the main menu and select SNMP warnings settings.
- To enable the SNMP agent, select the check box.
- Enter the description of the agent in the Description field.
- Enter the location of the agent in the Location field.
- Enter the Contact user.
The Communities section shows the list of communities added. Community is the identifier that allows you to define authentication and access control between an SNMP agent and a management station (server that manages queries and traps). In other words, it is the association between the agent –which responds to queries and generates traps- and the SNMP server that manages them. In this section, you will see a list of the communities added. The following fields appear for each entry:
- Enabled: Enable the checkbox corresponding to each event to establish whether the community is enabled or disabled.
- Name: Name of the community
- Queries: Shows if there are any active queries
- Traps: Shows if traps are enabled (they log possible events).
If you want to enter a new community, click on the Add button. If you want to alter the data related to any existing community, select it and click on Modify
In the Communities screen, you can configure the following parameters of a community: - Name: Enter the name of the SNMP community
- Host: Enter the IP address or the group of IP addresses of the server or servers used to monitor the appliance.
- The Queries section lets you enable or disable the queries for each protocol. You can also configure the corresponding port.
- In the Traps section, you can enable the traps for each protocol and configure the port to use to send them.
- Click on Add to save the changes.
If you have enabled or disabled any community, click on Apply to apply the changes.
After configuring the SNMP agent and the communities, simply select the events to report.
