Asan.A is a worm that affects servers running a vulnerable version of the application phpBB that are already affected by the other worm, detected by Panda Security as PHP/Santy.A.worm.
phpBB is an open source program used to easily create bulletin boards, forums and newsgroups. Some of its versions present a vulnerability known as Remote URLDecode Input Validation.
Asan.A removes this vulnerability from the server, but this could result in a functionality loss.
Asan.A is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.
