Quaters.A is a worm that spreads via e-mail and IRC.
Quaters.A ends processes belonging to antivirus programs, firewalls and system monitoring tools. This leaves the affected computer vulnerable to the attack of other viruses and worms. Quaters.A disables the Windows Registry Editor and the Task Manager.
Quaters.A can attempt a denial of service (DoS) attack agains the website www.number-10.gov.uk. In addition, if the affected computer is a web server, Quaters.A overwrites scripts and files located in the directory c:\ inetpub\ wwwroot.
In order to spread via IRC, Quaters.A exploits a vulnerability of the chat program mIRC, which exists in the versions 5.3x or earliers.
