Opaserv.P is a worm that is considered dangerous, as when it has carried out its infection it ends a large number of processes in the affected computer and then deletes the content of the hard disk.
Before it carries out its destructive effects, Opaserv.P displays a false anti-piracy warning message on screen, which informs the user that an illegal copy of a program has been detected.
Opaserv.P spreads through shared local resources and network drives.
Opaserv.P is easy to identifiy, as when it has carried out its infection it restarts the infected computer and displays a message in an MS-DOS window:
This message simulates a warning about the version of the Windows operating system installed on the affected computer:
Illegal Microsoft Windows license detected!
You are in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
