Marker.GO is a macro virus that reaches computers in an infected Word document, with a DOC extension. From there, it infects Word's global template (NORMAL.DOT file), spreading its infection to all the Word documents that use or are created with this template.
Marker.GO does not cause any damage in the infected computer, as its only aims are to spread and modify some properties of the Word documents it infects.
Marker.GO modifies the properties of the Word documents it infects. These properties are available in Word 97 and Word 2000 through File, Properties, Summary tab. The data mdofied by Marker.GO is the title of the document, the author and the key words:
Title: Ethan Frome.
Author: ISTA & K.
Key words: Anti Ethan.
Finally, when any of the infected documents are closed, the virus displays a dialog box with the following message: Goodbyee.
