Groov.AJ is a macro virus that has a wide range of effects, the most important ones are:
- It tries to send a file with information from the infected computer to an Internet address, through the File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
- It displays messages on screen.
- It renames the C: volume label to groovie.
Groov.AJ reaches systems in an infected Word document (DOC extension). From there, it infects Word’s global template (NORMAL.DOT file), spreading its infection to all the Word files created with this template. The virus modifies Word properties and disables certain Word options.
