Ptakks.216 is a backdoor type Trojan, which allows hackers to remotely access the affected computer in order to impede the user’s work and access confidential information.
The most important actions carried out by Ptakks.216 are the following: it opens and closes the CD-ROM tray, blocks the keyboard and deletes or modifies files.
This Trojan consists of two programs:
- The server program, which is installed on the affected computer.
- The client program, which is installed on the hacker's computer.
A indication that Ptakks.216 has infected a computer is that a false error message is displayed whenever the Trojan is run.
If the mouse buttons switch functions, the CD-ROM tray opens and closes by itself and the keyboard blocks, Ptakks.216 may have infected the computer.
