Finaldo.A is a worm that reaches computers in a file with a blank name and the EXE extension attached to an e-mail with no subject or text. The icon of the attached file is the flag of the People's Republic of China.
This virus infects the system immediately when the message that carries it is viewed through the Preview Pane in the mail program. To do this, the worm exploits a vulnerability that affects Outlook (versions 5.01 and 5.5) and Outlook Express.
This worm’s only effect consists of infecting files with the following extensions: EXE, SCR, OCX, HTM, HTML and ASP.
It is easy to know if Finaldo.A has reached your computer as the message that carries it has the following very specific features:
- Subject: None
- Message: The e-mal includes no text.
- Attachments: a file with a blank name and the EXE extension.
- This file’s icon is the flag of the People's Republic of China.
Apart from this message, Finaldo.A does not show any symptoms of infection.
