Naked is a dangerous worm, as it deletes files that are essential for the correct functioning of the Windows operating system, among others.
Naked reaches computers in an e-mail message with the subject FW: Naked Wife and an attached file called NAKEDWIFE.EXE.
When the attached file is run, Naked carries out its infection. When it does this, it simulates a Flash presentation being loaded and run. It does this to distract the user’s attention while it deletes all the files it finds with an EXE, COM, LOG, BMP, DLL or INI extension in the Windows and Windows/System directories.
Then, it sends itself out to all the contacts in Outlook’s Address Book.
Naked is easy to recognize, as:
- It reaches computers in an e-mail message with the subject FW: Naked Wife and an attached file called NAKEDWIFE.EXE
- When the attachment is run, the following window is displayed on screen:
All of the menu options in this window can be expanded. However, only the option About Macromedia Flash Player works.
If the user selects this option, the following message is displayed:
