Loveletter.UNK is a generic variant of the Loveletter worm. It covers all the characteristics of the rest of the members of this family.
It spreads very rapidly through an e-mail message and by automatically sending files via IRC. This virus uses a supposed love letter as bait for carrying out its infection.
Whenever Loveletter.UNK infects a computer, it automatically sends itself out to all the contacts in the Address Book.
Loveletter.UNK has very damaging effects:
- It modifies the content of all files with VBS, VBE, JS, JSE, CSS, WSH, SCT, HTA, JPG, JPEG, MP3 and MP2 extensions.
- It steals confidential information from the affected computer and sends it to the virus author. This could have particularly serious consequences for corporate networks.
As Loveletter.UNK is a generic variant of the Loveletter family it has a wide range of symptoms, which vary in each case. The most common symptom is a love letter with the subject I love you.
