TheThing.16 is a backdoor type Trojan that opens a communication port and installs a server program in the affected computer. Through the combination of these two actions, the hacker can gain access to the resources of the affected computer in order to carry out some of these actions, among others:
- Run a program.
- Restart the computer.
TheThing.16 reaches computers in a file that tricks the user into thinking that it is a harmless application. However, when the user runs the file, the Trojan is installed on the computer.
TheThing.16 is difficult to identify, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate that it has reached a computer.
If the computer runs some applications or restart for no apparent reason, TheThing.16 may have infected the computer.
