|Detection updated on:||Nov. 13, 2002|
Onex.A is a macro virus which lowers the security level in Word documents using macros and prevents the user from disabling macros included in documents (Word versions 97 and 2000).
It is easy to become infected because the virus can spread through a variety of file types, such as Word documents with the extension DOC-, that launch the virus once opened.
The virus attacks documents and the Word global template file - NORMAL.DOT- (versions 97 and 2000).
The only visible symptom of its presence is the disappearance of the message which allows the user to enable or disable the macros in a document when it is opened.
This is because Onex.A has disabled the antivirus protection in macros of Word 97 and 2000.
