Class.D is a macro virus that reaches computers in an infected Word 97 document, with a DOC extension. Then, it infects the Word template (NORMAL.DOT file) and spreads to all the Word documents generated with it.
The effects of Class.D are more irritating than dangerous:
- It displays the text I Think <user name> is a big stupid jerk! on the 14th of any month between June and December.
- It prevents macros from being managed in Word 97 documents.
Class.D can reach computers in an infected Word document through different means of transmission.
Class.D does not show any visible symptoms that can alert the user to its arrival to the system.
However, once the virus has infected the computer, it shows two very noticeable symptoms:
- It displays the text I Think <user name> is a big stupid jerk! on the 14th of any month between June and December:
- It disables the Macro option in the Tools menu, in the Word 97 main window.
