Kates.D is a Trojan that modifies the configuration of Windows, monitors the network traffic and reduces the protection level of the computer.
Additionally, it uses several techniques in order to prevent its detection. If it detects any antirootkit tool in the computer, it is uninstalled and disables the access to the Registry entries created by itself.
Kates.D does not spread automatically using its own means. It needs an attacking user's intervention in order to reach the affected computer.
Kates.D is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.>
