Marker.BP is a macro virus that does not have any destructive effects, which infects Word 97 files.
Marker.BP follows the typical infection routine of macro viruses. It infects Word’s global template and, from there, it infects all the Word documents used or generated with this template on the affected computer.
Marker.BP reaches computers in an infected Word document. This document can reach computers through the usual means used by viruses (Internet downloads, CD-ROMs, floppy disks, etc.). It can also send itself out to other computers via FTP.
Marker.BP is difficult to identify, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate that it has infected a computer.
