WinVNC.A is a backdoor designed to obtain information from the affected computer, like the computername.
WinVNC.A reaches the computer passing itself off as a PowerPoint presentation about the swine flu in Spanish. However, it does not spread automatically using its own means, as it needs an attacking user's intervention, who could have distributed it via email.
WinVNC.A is easy to recognize, as it shows the following symptoms:
- It reaches the computer in a file with the icon belonging to a PowerPoint document in order to pass itself off as an inoffensive file:
