SillyBAT.A is a worm which prevents the user from working with the computer as usual, as it carries out plenty of modifications in the Windows Registry, which have the following consequences:
- Doing searches in a fast and straight way, as it disables the option Search of the Start menu.
- Viewing the processes that are being run through the Task Manager.
- Modifying the configuration of the features of the folders.
Additionally, it prevents several programs from being run, such as the Notepad, the Windows Explorer and the command shell, and the files with a DOC (Word), PPT (PowerPoint) and XLS (Excel) extension, among others.
SillyBAT.A spreads via P2P file sharing programs, passing itself off as shared files.
SillyBAT.A is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.
