CAP is a macro virus that reaches computers in an infected Word 97 document, with a DOC extension. From there, it infects Word’s global template (NORMAL.DOT file), spreading to all the Word files generated with it.
CAP does not carry out any damaging actions in affected computers, as its only aims are to spread and disable some Word options.

CAP is very difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate that it has infected a computer.
The user of the Word program on the affected computer will not be able to access the options Macro or Customize in the Tools menu.
