| Jumper.B is a BOOT virus that infects the hard disk master boot record (MBR) and floppy disk boot sectors. To infect the MBR of a hard disk the computer must be booted from an infected floppy disk. There is no other way for this virus to carry out an infection. Once the MBR has been infected the virus goes memory resident and infects all floppy disks that are accessed by the computer providing they are not write-protected. This virus is also capable of infecting Windows 95 and OS/2 systems.|
Jumper.B can cause the infected computer to hang up, thereby forcing users to restart the system. It can also display some graphic characters on the screen.
On certain occasions the virus can cause the system to crash, thereby forcing users to restart the system. When the system is booted it displays some graphic characters on the screen.
