Junkie is a virus that uses a compressed file called PSPTC.ZIP to spread. This file is a program that would supposedly allow users to obtain copies of a game called Pacific Strike. However, this program contains a program called PSTATCH.COM, which contains the virus.
This virus can activate on starting the computer from an infected floppy disk, or when the PSTATCH.COM file is executed.
Junkie is a dangerous virus, as it infects executable files and the boot sector of floppy disks and hard disks, thereby causing start-up problems.
The main visible symptom is that infected computers have problems starting.
