‘How-to’ guide: Centralized configuration in Performa. Applying specific settings to a group of appliances

Below you will find the instructions to apply specific settings to a group of manageable appliances.

Steps to follow

  1. Define several manageable appliances and assign them to a group. To do this:

    1. Go to Tools -> Centralized settings -> Manageable appliances
    2. In the Manageable appliances section, click Add and specify the appliance data:
      • Name: “Appliance_marketing_1”
      • Configuration IP address: 192.168.1.2
      • User: admin
      • Password: *******
      • Repeat password: *******
      • Group: None
      • Comment: “Appliances belonging to the Marketing division”
    3. Click Save for the changes to be applied.
  2. Define a group of manageable appliances. To do this:

    1. Go to Tools -> Centralized settings -> Manageable appliances
    2. In the Groups of manageable appliances section, click Add and specify the group data:
      • Name: “Marketing_group”
    3. In the Group appliances section, select the appliances defined in the previous point.
    4. Click Save for the changes to be applied.
  3. Define a configuration with the content-filter disabled. To do this:

    1. Go to Configuration by profiles - > Settings management
    2. Click Add and specify the following:
      • Name: “Configuration without content-filter”
      • Configurable modules: [X] Content-filter
    3. Click Edit settings.
      • Go to Protection settings - > Content Filter protection  - > HTTP/FTP protection settings 
      • In the Files to scan section, clear the Enable the Content Filter HTTP/FTP protection checkbox
    4. Click Save for the changes to be applied.
  4. Finally, apply the configuration with content-filter disabled to a group of appliances. To do this:

    1. Go to Tools-> Centralized settings -> Centralized protection management
    2. In the Groups of Appliances section, select the group created in point 2 and click Modify.

      Note: Connection with the appliances defined for this group will be attempted. If there is a connection problem the corresponding error message will be returned.
    3. In the Settings assigned section, select the configuration created in point 3 ( “Configuration without content-filter” from the drop-down menu, and click Apply:
      • A dialog box will be displayed indicating that the settings have been correctly applied.
