System profile ‘how-to’ guide: Resolving ambiguities between profiles and white lists.

With the appearance of profiles associated to N different settings– each with its own white lists– there may be confusion as to the white list to be applied or whether it has priority over the criteria associated to the profiles.

Imagine the following scenario:

Defined settings

Default settings

  • Anti-spam protection configured in all mail protocols 
  •  Anti-spam white list: provider.com

Conf_marketing settings

  • Anti-spam protection configured in all mail protocols
  • Anti-spam white list: (empty)

 

Defined profiles

Perf_marketing profile

  • Applies to Domain origin: provider.com
  • Associated to conf_marketing settings

 

In this case, users have two options for the white list to be effective globally:

  • In a similar way to the trusted sites and blacklists cases, add provider.com to the anti-spam white list of all protections.
  • Disable the anti-spam protection in the settings associated to the perf_marketing profile.
