Below you will find the steps to design a company user exempt from the outbound SMTP anti-malware scan. As a preliminary step, you first have to define the company LDAP server.

Steps to follow

  1. Access Definitions - > LDAP sources and server management from the Web console.
  2. Click Add LDAP server and specify the following:

    • Name: “My LDAP server”
    • Server/IP: ...
    •  ...
  3. Then you have to associate the company SMTP server to the LDAP server defined. To do this:
    • Access Definitions - > LDAP sources and server management from the Web console.
    • Click Add server with validation and specify the following:

      • Name: “My SMTP server”
      • IP: SMTP server IP address.
      • Protocol: SMTP
      • Validation server: “My LDAP server”
  4. Now you have to add the company domain to the list of internal domains so that the application can distinguish between inbound and outbound mail. To do this:

    1. From the Web console, go to Protection settings-> Anti-spam protection -> Internal domains
    2. Click Add the mycompany.com domain.
  5.   You must also define a configuration with the SMTP anti-malware scan disabled. In this case:

    1. Access Configuration by profiles - > Settings management.
    2. Click Add and specify the following:

      • Name: “Configuration without SMTP anti-malware”
      • Configurable modules: [X] Anti-malware

    3. Click Edit the configuration created. To do this:

      • Go to Protection settings - > Anti-malware protection.
      • Disable the antivirus protection for SMTP

    4. Click Save for the changes to be applied.

  6. Finally, you have to define a profile, associating it to the LDAP group that you want to be exempt from the outbound SMTP anti-malware scan, and associating it to the configuration you have created. To do this:

    1. Access Configuration by profiles - > Settings management.
    2. Click Add and specify the following:

      • Name: “User without outbound SMTP anti-malware”
      • Applies to:

        •   [X] Users
          • Subtree/individual users -> enter user DN
      • Settings: “Configuration without SMTP anti-malware”
      • Modules configured: [X] Anti-malware
