Below you will find how to define an LDAP group exempt from the Web filter of Panda GateDefender.

Steps to follow

  1. Firstly, it is necessary to define the company LDAP. In order to do so:

    1. Access Definitions - > LDAP sources and server management from the Web console.
    2. Click Add LDAP server and specify the following:

      • Name: “My LDAP server”
      • Server/IP: ...
      • ...
  2. Then you have to associate the company HTTP server to the LDAP server defined. To do this:

    1. Access Definitions - > LDAP sources and server management from the Web console
    2. Click Add server with validation and specify the following:

      • Name: “My HTTP proxy”
      • IP: IP address of the proxy
      • Protocol: HTT
      • Validation server: “My LDAP server”
  3. Then you have to define a configuration with the Web filter disabled. To do this:

    1. Access Configuration by profiles - > Settings management from the Web console.
    2. Click Add and specify the following:

      • Name: “Configuration without Web filter” Modules configured: [X] P2P application and Web filter:
      • Configurable modules: [X] P2P application and Web filter
  4. Click Edit the configuration created. To do this:

    • Go to Protection settings - > Web filter.
    • Unselect the Enable Web filter checkbox
  5. Click Save for the changes to be applied.
  6. Finally, you have to define a profile, associating it to the LDAP group that you want to be exempt from the Web filter, and associating it to the configuration you have created. To do this:

    1. Access Configuration by profilesProtection profile settings
    2. Click Add and specify the following:

      • Name: “LDAP group without Web filtering”
      • Applies to:
        • [X] Users
          • User group -> select the group
      • Settings: Configuration without Web filter
      • Modules configured: [X] P2P application and Web filter
  7. The final result of these steps is the following:

When the user belonging to the exempt LDAP group establishes HTTP connections, the Configuration without Web filtering will be applied.

If the user is not indicated in the exempt LDAP group, the default configuration will be applied, in which Web filtering is enabled.
