Spybot.AKB is worm which installs in the affected computer an extension of Firefox and Chrome browsers in order to control certain searches carried out by users and redirect them to malicious websites from which more malware can be downloaded.

Spybot.AKB uses the following means of propagation:

• Distributed in email messages that seem to contain an invitation to Twitter.
• Making copies of itself in te shared folders of several P2P programs passing itself off as interesting and inoffensive applications.

Spybot.AKB is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.

However, when it spreads via email, it can be easily recognized, as it reaches the computer in a message like the following, which seems to contain an invitation to Twitter:
