It is a group of vulnerabilities on Windows 2003/XP/2000 computers, which allows hackers to gain remote control of the affected computer with the same privileges as the logged on user, or launch denial of service attacks.

MS05-053 is not categorized as virus, worm, Trojan or backdoor. It is a group of critical vulnerabilities on Windows 2003/XP/2000 computers.
If exploited successfully, MS05-053 allows hackers to gain remote control of the affected computer with the same privileges as the logged on user, or launch denial of service (DoS) attacks.
These vulnerabilities are exploited by creating a specially crafted image that can be sent via email, hosted in a web page, embedded in an Office document or stored in a network share.
Additionally, they can be exploited if a hacker logs on locally and runs a specially crafted program on the affected computer.
