Brief Description

prueba.worm is a virus that also has the characteristics of a worm.
prueba.worm gets into a computer via e-mail, the Internet, floppy disks, etc, and it spreads by inserting its code in other files and programs. Its effects can range from simply annoying to destructive.
Furthermore, due to its worm characteristics, prueba.worm also spreads by sending out copies of itself. Its main objective is to collapse computers and networks, preventing users from working with the affected computer.

prueba.worm prevents access from programs to websites of several companies related with security tools (antivirus programs, firewalls, etc.).

prueba.worm redirects attempts to access web pages of certain banks to spoofed pages, with the aim of logging information entered by the user in these pages.

prueba.worm redirects attempts to access several web pages to a specific IP address.

prueba.worm uses the following propagation or distribution methods:

  • Exploiting vulnerabilities with the intervention of the user: exploiting vulnerabilities in file formats or applications. To exploit them successfully it needs the intervention of the user: opening files, viewing malicious web pages, reading emails, etc.
  • Via Internet, exploiting remote vulnerabilities: attacking random IP addresses, in which it tries to insert a copy of itself by exploiting one or more vulnerabilities.
  • Email: sending emails that include a copy of itself as an attachment. The computer is infected when the attachment is run.
  • Computer networks (shared resources): it creates copies of itself in shared network resources to which it has access.
