Brief Description

Jabbit.A is a virus that infects the HTML files that are located in the directory where it is run. It also creates copies of itself in the Favorites folder, and makes all the links in this folder to point to the virus, so that it will be run whenever the user attempts to use them.

Jabbit.A is written in the programming language JavaScript, and it uses the prepending method.

Jabbit.A does not spread using its own means, but it infects other files. It reaches computers when these infected files are distributed, which can enter computers through any of the typical means of tranmission, which include, among others, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, e-mail messages with attached files, Internet downloads, FTP, IRC channels, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks, etc.

Visible Symptoms

Jabbit.A is easy to recognize once it has infected a computer, as it displays the following images on screen on the 13th of every month:

Then, it opens the browser Internet Explorer and displays a certain web page.

Additionally, several links appear in the Favorites menu of Internet Explorer.
