Grimgram is a worm that carries out the following actions when it has infected a computer: it displays a message on screen, connects to two web pages and sends confidential information from the infected computer to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Grimgram spreads rapidly through the following means of transmission:
E-mail: It sends itself to all the contacts in the Address Book and to the address in the files with HTM and HTML extensions it finds on the affected computer.
KaZaA: It creates copies of itself in the shared direcotry of this program.
IRC: It sends copies of itself through these chat channels.
Grimgram is easy to recognize, as when it has infected a computer it displays the following screen:
Similarly, Grimgram also displays the following false error messages on screen. Depending on the language of the Internet browser installed, this message will be displayed in Spanish or English:
