Brief Description

Constructor is not a specific virus, but a group of viruses with the following common characteristics:

  • Its main aim is to create new viruses or new variants of already existing viruses.
  • If the program that allows new viruses to be generated (a tool that creates new viruses almost automatically) is not run, Constructor is not considered a dangerous virus.
  • The name the virus chooses for this kind of program that creates new viruses is variable. For example, VBSWG is a family of viruses that have been created with the virus construction programs Vbswg 1.0 and Vbswg 2 Beta.
  • It does not spread automatically using its own means. It needs the attacking user's intervention in order to reach the affected computer. The means of transmission used include, among others, floppy disks, CD-ROMs, e-mail messages with attached files, Internet downloads, FTP, IRC channels, peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks, etc.

Visible Symptoms

Constructor is difficult to recognize, as it does not display any messages or warnings that indicate it has reached the computer.
