Onex.F is macro virus which has the following effects:
- Deletes temporary files (in the Temp directory).
- Disables the antivirus protection of macros in Word 97 and Word 2000, lowering the security level.
- Prevents the user from disabling macros included in documents (Word versions 97 and 2000).
- Displays a message in the Windows assistant of Word 97 and Word 2000.
It is easy to become infected because the virus can spread through a variety of file types, such as Word documents with the extension DOC-, that launch the virus once opened.
The primary goal of Onex.F is to infect documents and the global template file of Word- NORMAL.DOT- (versions 97 and 2000).
Onex.F displays the following text in the Windows assistant of Word 97 or Word 2000:
